DIGI to launch new report on drinks industry’s contribution to tourism in Ireland
Friday, 19 June 2009The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) will launch a new report titled 'The Contribution of the Drinks Industry to Irish Tourism' Wednesday next, 24 June, at 6pm in the Old Jameson Distillery, Smithfield, Dublin 7.
The report is authored by Anthony Foley of Dublin City University Business School, and will detail the substantial contribution the drinks industry makes to tourism in Ireland through the extensive network of pubs, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs and visitor centres. It will also highlight how industry sponsorship and support are vital to the hundreds of large and small sporting and cultural events and festivals that are central to tourism in this country.
DIGI is especially delighted that the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Martin Cullen TD, has agreed to attend and speak at the event. Broadcaster and Lonely Planet author, Fionn Davenport, will also address the audience on how the inputs of the various sectors of the drinks industry shape the visitors' experience of Ireland.

6.20pm: Photo-op with Minister Cullen and DIGI Chair (Kieran Tobin) at Old Jameson Distillery, Smithfield, Dublin 7
6.30pm: Launch of report
6.40pm: Guest speakers:
