Drinks Industry to publish largest ever survey of licensed premises

The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) will publish its “Survey of Licensed Premises 2009” Monday next, 2nd November, at 11am in Kehoe’s of South Anne Street, Dublin 2.This major report follows DIGI’s previous Survey of Licensed Premises published in 2004, and is the largest research exercise undertaken on the Irish on-licensed sector (pubs, hotels, nightclubs, and restaurants).
The Survey of Licensed Premises 2009 will provide detailed analysis of employment, sales, and costs throughout the sector over the five-year period, and will show that:
•Employment in the sector has declined dramatically
•Sales revenue has fallen significantly
•Labour costs have increased
The press conference will be chaired by Kieran Tobin, DIGI Chairman, and the report’s author, Anthony Foley of Dublin City University Business School, will provide a detailed presentation. Donall O’Keeffe, CEO of the Licensed Vintners Association, and Padraig Cribben, CEO of the Vintners Federation of Ireland, will be available for comment.
